Regulations and what they mean
Whoever wants to cut the cost of the lubricant circuit gets least far with the purchase price. The relevant items sit elsewhere — and three of them can be lifted without investment.

The calculation that holds
A sound assessment starts from the downtime hour, not from the lubricant. With the machine's hourly rate known, a single avoided unplanned hour per year justifies monitoring — pressure switch and cycle sensor cost far less. The second path runs through the coolant: new fill, disposal and cleaning fall due together at every change, so extending the interval removes that block proportionally.
Check first: over-greasing (grease or oil escaping at the points means the dose is too high — it costs twice), interval against demand (many systems still run on the commissioning settings), and missing feedback (without a pressure or stroke signal, a fault shows only at the damage).
