A single point lubricator is a complete lubrication system for exactly one point: reservoir, drive and metering in one housing that screws straight onto the grease nipple. It needs no line, no controller and no power supply — and it replaces the grease gun at points that get forgotten anyway.

Why “electrochemical” is an advantage here
The MONO contains neither spring nor motor. A chemical cell generates gas that pushes a piston forward and presses the grease into the point. Two practical consequences: there is no component that fails under vibration, and delivery is even across the whole period instead of coming in bursts. The pressure generated, at most 5 bar, is also the limit — the unit sits directly on the bearing, not at the end of a long line.
The dispensing period is selected at activation and then runs by itself. The arithmetic behind it is simple: 120 cm³ over 12 months is about 10 cm³ a month, over 1 month it is 120 cm³. The setting therefore follows from the point's demand, not from the desired maintenance interval — set it too slow and the point is under-lubricated for a year.
Where they pay off
- Hard-to-reach bearings — one unit costs less than repeatedly putting up access equipment
- Points missing from the maintenance list — the commonest cause of bearing damage is not the wrong grease but none at all
- Gearboxes, guideways and chains, which DropsA names explicitly as applications
Mind the “up to NLGI 2” limit: at 5 bar system pressure a stiffer grease is no longer reliably deliverable. The background is in our article on NLGI classes. For several points a centralised system is usually the cheaper answer than many individual units.
