Technology

Technical data and selection

A flow regulator keeps the oil volume to a lubrication point constant even when system pressure changes. In circulating systems that is the normal case: as soon as a valve opens elsewhere or a filter clogs, pressure shifts — and without a regulator the volume at every single point shifts with it.

“Pressure independent” is the actual achievement

A plain restrictor does not allocate a constant flow but a pressure-dependent one: raise the inlet pressure and the volume rises. A regulated feeder holds the flow constant across a pressure range. The practical effect only shows up in the fault case — if one point in the system blocks, a restrictor arrangement distributes the freed volume across the remaining points; a regulated feeder does not.

The range spans 0.16 to 6.3 l/min, a factor of about 1:40. When sizing, keep the operating point away from the edge of the range — a regulator working at its lower stop regulates worse than one in the middle of its window. For larger flows DropsA also offers the SAS in a size from 7.1 to 31.5 l/min.

The SAS reports what it is doing

A regulator that fails silently is worse than none at all: the plant keeps running, the point gets nothing, and nobody finds out. The SAS therefore carries an LED — green in normal operation, red on low or no flow — and a protective diode for inductive loads on the output.

It works with mineral and synthetic oils from 10 to 750 mm²/s at up to 100 bar, fits into the line via G 1/4″, and at IP 67 is dust tight and protected against temporary immersion. Its temperature window of 0 to 80 °C covers normal circulating duty. The flow rate is set fixed and not adjustable in service — deliberately, because an allocated flow should not be changeable by accident.
