The VIP4Air is a modular minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) system that combines oil and compressed air into a finely dosed aerosol. Instead of flooding the cutting zone with coolant, it delivers tiny, precisely controlled quantities of oil to the tool and workpiece — keeping the process clean, reducing lubricant consumption and improving surface quality and tool life. Its modular construction lets the unit scale from a single lubrication task to several outlets, making it a flexible building block within DropsA's minimum quantity lubrication range.
The VIP4Air is built around IO-Link, so every parameter — air pressure, dosing quantity and cycle — can be set, read back and monitored from the machine control. The output air pressure is regulated and monitored across a range of 0–10 bar (±1 % FS), giving the operator confidence that the right amount of lubricant reaches the tool on every cycle. This level of feedback makes the VIP4Air well suited to modern, networked machine tools where lubrication has to be both minimal and verifiable.
The system is modular, with up to 4 mixing bases; each module carries two mini-pumps, and the dosing quantity per cycle is set via spacers to 7, 15 or 30 mm³. This makes it straightforward to tailor the delivery to the specific operation — from light finishing passes to heavier cuts — and to expand the system as new tasks are added, all under the same IO-Link control.

The VIP4Air is designed for clean, low-maintenance operation: with IO-Link feedback on pressure, dose and cycle, deviations are flagged early, and the modular mixing bases can be serviced or expanded individually without replacing the whole unit. Its IP 65 protection suits the workshop environment, keeping the micro-lubrication reliable across changing machining tasks and making routine care largely a matter of refilling and periodic checks.
